M365 Migration Project

Challenge

Y12 and Pantex, a highly secured government entity, were in the middle of a complex digital transformation initiative. Sixteen months into the project, Agiletek Solutions was brought in as the dedicated migration team with an aggressive six-month deadline to migrate 90% of Exchange and Skype data to the cloud for more than 15,000 employees spread across multiple sites. The project was already facing significant obstacles, including missing prerequisites, rejected or mislabeled change requests, and a lack of adequate documentation. With time running out and substantial risks to mission-critical communications, the client needed a partner who could quickly overcome these barriers and deliver results under pressure.

Solution

Agiletek Solutions immediately assessed the state of the project and deployed a structured migration strategy designed to maximize efficiency under tight timelines. The team leveraged Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Exchange, Skype, and Azure Sentinel, along with custom-developed scripts and tools, to streamline and automate large portions of the migration process. By implementing strong change management practices and addressing gaps in documentation, Agiletek restored order to the project, reduced bottlenecks, and ensured prerequisites were completed in parallel with migration tasks.

The team’s collaborative approach, working closely with client stakeholders, ensured that critical communication systems could be transitioned securely and with minimal disruption. Agiletek’s flexibility and technical expertise allowed them to adapt quickly to shifting requirements and keep the project ahead of schedule.

Technologies Used

The migration was executed using Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Exchange, Skype, Azure Sentinel, and a range of custom automation scripts and tools that enabled scale, speed, and accuracy.

Results

Despite the complexities and evolving requirements of the engagement, Agiletek Solutions successfully completed the Microsoft Teams migration 2.5 months ahead of schedule and the overall data migration 1.5 months early. The project not only met but exceeded its ambitious goals, thanks to the team’s adaptability, problem-solving skills, and technical depth. By delivering a smooth and secure migration for 15,000 employees across multiple sites, Agiletek enabled Y12 and Pantex to advance their digital transformation with confidence, ensuring that critical communication and collaboration systems were future-ready and resilient.
